This year I added meat rabbits to the mix. It’s something I was intending on doing, however, I mentioned it to a friend of mine and she said “Great! I was looking to get rid of a couple of my rabbits that I just can’t justify keeping. Can you pick them up Monday???”
So, I got meat rabbits.
Isn’t that how things seem to go? You decide to try somthhing, and no matter if you are going to go about it fast or slow, it always seems to immediatly plunge into high gear.
It’s been something of an odd year. Looking back on my 2012 resolutions, I’m somewhat suprised by the mixed level of fail and success. Somethings just didn’t work out, some worked out really well. And some, worked for a bit and then went by the wayside. Oddly enough, a few things I listed in prior years managed to happen.
So, looking at my resolutions and revising them:
1) Restart Dave Ramsey Plan
Fin’s been busy canning for the garden, so we’ve been a bit quiet. So, I post this note on the importance of music.
For division of household chores, Fin holds that mowing is “not her job”. So, when it comes to trimming grass, we’re a very traditional 60’s style house - that’s the guys job. Not that I mind, I rather like mowing, and… Well, Fin does a lot more around the house than I do. Like tons. Proportionally, I’m but a small blip on the radar when it comes to things moving around here.
I’ve been bad about posting.
I keep meaning to do an update on the hatching chicks, but the whole thing was kind of a horrible learning experience so I just haven’t been able to bring myself to write about it. I will try to get a post about it out soonish, but in the mean time here are some pics of them several days old.
A couple of things have caught my eye in the last couple days and I wanted to share:
1. Someone Worked Very Hard To Make That “Natural” Piece Of Lunch Meat Look Imperfect
Just goes to show you what I’ve always said: the perception of your enjoyment in food is 50% how it looks, 30% how it smells, and only 20% how it tastes. Here is another good example.
2. KIDS BRUTALLY VANDALIZE MAN’S FAMILY HOME — BUT NOW HE’S THE ONE FACING JAIL TIME
My second year of gardening at my house. These are two different examples of hugelkulture beds. Both are heavily mulched on top to help trap additional moisture and reduce the need for watering. Due to the extended cold and then excessive rain (and some illness on Fin’s part), things got started a little late this year. Either way, the greens are starting to come up, even if they are a little late.
